“Populations don’t like wars. They have to be lied into it. That means we can be ‘truthed’ into peace. This is a great cause for hope.”Julian Assange
As I said at the top of this episode, I’ve been wanting to address Assange directly since we began Ask Jesse but we have mentioned Assange in many of our episodes and in some ways, every show we do is about Assange because his case represents the injustices that Jesse and I stand firmly against and the things that we stand for; namely peace and truth, are diminishing just as Julian Assange is in Belmarsh prison and are in peril right along with him.
What really disturbs me is how many other people claim to value peace and truth and yet show no interest or are actively against Assange and/or the people who devote so much of their time and efforts to the cause to free him.
So I will say this now and keep saying it to anyone who will listen:
If you are earnestly interested in standing for truth and peace, for justice and press freedom, then you want Assange to be free whether you know it or not. And if you don’t know it, it is because you have been influenced by propaganda and you haven’t taken the time to study the facts.
I hope that if you are reading this and have listened to our episode that you will take the time to further investigate the facts on your own. There are some excellent resources listed on these show notes that were written for my interview with Assange activist Misty Winston earlier this year: Assange Activism for Everyone
If you want to learn more about current efforts to Free Assange and get involved with the cause, I suggest following Misty on Twitter. You can also follow the JA Extradition Hearing Twitter list and the hashtag #FreeAssange
