Show Notes by Victoria Lynn Hall
“History is made every day. The challenge is getting everyone to pay attention to it.”Adora Svitak
Listening back to this collection of clips I compiled for the 2nd installment of “The Best of Ask Jesse”, I felt really smart and not just because, after listening to Jesse for over a year now (starting with his solo podcasts), I understand our politics in a way I never imagined I would but also because I had the good sense to start listening to him to begin with.
Okay, maybe some of that was luck but, to toot my own horn, some of it was also good decision making and discipline on my part because, as I’ve explained before, I didn’t always trust Jesse or agree with his views. Yet what I have always done is pay attention and by paying attention to what Jesse said and also to what was happening in the world, I slowly began to realize that he was right, even when I wished he wasn’t.
All of the clips in this collection were recorded when Trump was still in office but they are all still relevant and even seem somewhat prescient at times. This is because Jesse and I often discuss the bigger picture and broad themes and also because Jesse’s understanding of that picture and those themes in their historical context often allows him to understand and predict how our government is likely to act.
That’s not to say that he is never wrong or that the future is written. However, what it does say is that our politicians are actually really predictable once you understand them. And that is one of the biggest reasons why I do this podcast with Jesse; because I believe that understanding is power and I want more people to have both of those things.
And all you have to do to get them is pay attention and listen to Ask Jesse!
Ask Jesse has been on hiatus recently while Jesse focuses on other important things but I’m hoping we will return soon.
