Show Notes by Victoria Lynn Hall

If you’ve been reading these show notes since Episode 4 you may remember that I haven’t always trusted Jesse as much as I do these days. One reason that has changed is that over time he has consistently proven himself to be, if not always 100% right, very well informed, extremely insightful and fairly objective. Another reason is that I discovered we share a number of values, such as honesty, peace and compassion.

These are good things to look for in a friend or colleague, so, why wouldn’t you look for them in the people you get your information from? To look for people who are not only objective but committed to the same principles you are?

With today’s technology we have access to so many sources of information and I know it can be overwhelming. But with a little time and effort you can find much more reliable and trustworthy sources of information than cable news, ones not sponsored by pharmaceutical companies or the fossil fuel industry.

You can even find independent little podcasts like this one, sponsored by no one.

Here are a few pieces that we recommend, one each by the excellent journalists Jesse mentioned in this episode:

Rania Khalek’s segment on the danger of former US intelligence officials being hired as “analysts” by cable news outlets.

We Are Ruled by Wizards by Caitlin Johnstone

Black Agenda Report: Freedom Rider: “Feet to the Fire” and Other Lies by Margaret Kimberley

Jesse also recommends Matt Taibbi’s book: Hate, Inc.
